Whirlwind (part 1)

24 May

Oh my goodness! It’s finally vacation time!  Though, the last few days can only be summed up by one word – whirlwind.  First, on Friday morning (May 20th), hubby and I jumped on a bus and traveled just over 3 hours to New York City to spend the day sightseeing and catching up with a German friend of mine that I hadn’t seen in about 13 years.  I can honestly say that for the previous week I had been extremely anxious about this encounter, worrying if we would have enough to talk about or do together.  It turned out that my concern was unnecessary – there was plenty to talk about with him and his wife, and I forgot how much fun it is to relate to foreigners and compare cultures.

So, anyway, our bus was scheduled to return home that night at 7:30 but huge delays in traffic (or something – we never really got the full story…) caused our bus to not leave until 10:00.  Needless to say, arriving back home at 1:00 a.m. did not make it easy to wake up the next day and begin our three part car trek to Orlando, Florida.

Saturday consisted of meeting up with another high school friend I hadn’t seen in 12 years in Raleigh, North Carolina, followed by staying the night with hubby’s sister. We continued the next morning to Bluffton, South Carolina to visit with hubby’s parents for the day. And, finally, on Monday we continued the restbof the way to Florida. Whew! Exhausting already! We’ll see how the rest of the trip goes and I’ll post pics soon too! Leaving Friday…
