Five Minute Friday – New

19 Aug

Ever since you came into my life, everything is new about it.  When you were first born, I remember lying awake for hours after I was exhausted studying you as you slept peacefully next to the bed in your yellow bassinet.  With your soft peach fuzz hair, tiny delicate hands clasped close to your face and your sweet little nose, I spied hints of both Daddy and me in you.  But still, everything about you was new as a miniature person in this world.

Sharing in your joy as you learned to crawl, and eventually walk, toward toys that you wanted and discover what they could do was amazing.  Your eyes lit up as you realized how they worked and the child in me was renewed again.

Now, as you are only a few weeks away from your 3rd birthday, I am astonished each day as you piece together whole ideas and carry on conversations with more attention than some adults I know.  I love the wonder and complete innocence that you exude at all times because everything is new to you.

And, as I am only a few weeks away from my 30th birthday, I arrogantly think I know everything sometimes.  But, I am reminded each day that I don’t because of you.

You learn from me.  You teach me.  You renew me.  You complete me.  My life is always new as a result of you.  Thank you Lil Guy!

Stop.

Task: Write for 5 minutes flat – no editing, no over thinking, no backtracking about the word “new.”  Though I feel that I have written about this idea before, I can’t say enough about it.  Lil Guy really is everything to me and I cherish every moment I spend with him.  So, I didn’t have as much trouble staying within the given time frame this week as in previous weeks because as soon as I saw the word, I knew exactly what I was going to write about.

This is so sweet! I don’t have any kiddies – and it’s nice to hear about some of the other aspects of their sweetness and innocence besides their use of diapers and the crying 🙂
