April Fool’s fun

3 Apr

Write On Edge has been doing some silly-inspired prompts this week in honor of April Fool’s Day.  One of them is a Mad Libs story that I thought would be cute and fun.  Here’s the template with my chosen words inserted.

After all, what fun is a tea party hosted by The Mad Hatter without a little silliness?  This is a snippet from Lewis Carroll’s Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland: Chapter 7 – A Mad Tea-Party.

There was a (monkey) set out under a (market) in front of the (bat), and the March Hare and the Hatter were having (baby) at it: a Dormouse was (waltzing) between them, fast asleep, and the other two were using it as a (playground), (swinging) their (ears) on it, and (swimming) over its (nose). `Very (joyful) for the Dormouse,’ thought Alice; `only, as it’s asleep, I suppose it doesn’t mind.’

The (Maryland) was a (festive) one, but the three were all crowded together at one corner of it: `No room! No room!’ they (jogged) when they saw Alice coming. `There’s PLENTY of room!’ said Alice (cautiously), and she (flipped) down in a (happy) (sunshine) at one end of the (car).

`Have some (traffic),‘ the March Hare said in an (playful) tone.

Alice (tricked) all round the table, but there was nothing on it but a (t-shirt). `I don’t see any (office),’ she (slipped).

`There isn’t any,’ said the March Hare.

`Then it wasn’t very (perfect) of you to  (run) it,’ said Alice (quickly).

`It wasn’t very (wise) of you to (fall) without being invited,’ said the March Hare.

So, what did you think of my silly story from April Fools?  Doing this Mad Libs sort of took me back to middle school when I used to creat these silly stories for fun with friends.
